REGENERATing
FU TEI AU VILLAGE
Introduction
Fu Tei Au in the North District in the New Territories, with its charac-teristic landscape and rich resources in ecology and architecture and culture, which unfortunately was in the government’s cross hairs for development since 2008, has still faced being bulldozed. But instead of demonstrating with loudspeakers and banners to save their home from being razed to the ground, villagers are immersing themselves in the planning of conservation. They started from the ecological conservation, repairing the biotypes to animal habitations and re-forming the green belts into better sceneries. At the same time, they primed an educational program, engaging more public attention by a series of guiding tours. These aim for transforming the region into a tourist destination, as a sort of soft protest against the government to back down the development plans.Multiple researches has been performed on the site of Fu Tei Au previously. ‘Regeneration of Fu Tei Au Village’ aims to consolidate all previous studies with a given direction, the team will proceed with a specific topic for further regenerative scheme for Fu Tei Au Village
